WE ARE SORRY

But Canada is OUR home and native land.

We've heard that some well-meaning American's may joke, or even seriously suggest that Canada should become the 51st state of the United States. While we are extremely flattered that Canada is so well thought of, we truly enjoy our sovereignty.

So, in a very respectable Canadian manner, we invite Canadians from coast-to-coast to tell them, SORRY, we prefer to keep it that way.

How to politely say "Not 51":

"I really love how close Canada and the US are neighbours and allies, we have such a great partnership. So SORRY, lets just keep it that way."

"We already have so much in common: trade, culture, even sports rivalries - and we benefit so much from working together. So SORRY, lets just keep it that way."

"Canadians are really proud of our unique identity. We love our universal healthcare, our parliamentary democracy and our multicultural society - it's just some of what makes Canada so special. So SORRY, lets just keep it that way."

"Canada and the US work best as strong allies. We each bring something different and valuable to the table, and that's what make our current relationship so great! So SORRY, lets just keep it that way."

We are truly SORRY. While we love being your friendly neighbour, we're quite happy to not become your 51st state.
